The Best Emmy Jewelry 2015

Last night the red carpet rolled out (in 100-degree weather) for the stars of TV to show off their best fashion-forward looks. While we were definitely interested in which gowns and suits made an appearance, we also kept an eye on the jewelry pieces and accessory trends. Here are our favorite rings, earrings and bracelets from the 2015 Emmy Awards!

Sarah Hyland was an early arrival to the red carpet and the Modern Family star stunned in this merlot-colored Zac Posen gown with perfectly paired Lorraine Schwartz earrings. We love the monochromatic look!

While the critics were torn about Heidi Klum’s yellow Versace gown, we were in love with the gorgeous, yellow Lorraine Schwartz rings. Why have just one statement ring when you can wear three!

Padma Lakshmi was definitely not blending in with her vibrant Romona Kevez gown. Even better? Those Fred Leighton diamond pendant earrings and a fancy vivid yellow diamond ring. Yellow jewelry was a stand-out trend of the evening.

Anna Chlumsky’s look was all flower details and Chopard jewelry. When a dress features strong details, the best way to accessories is with simple pieces that won’t overpower the look.

2. Patek Philippe Complication

5 Fashion Week Jewelry Trends

Unfortunately, Fashion Week has drawn to a close. However, that means we can finally round up the best of the jewelry trends from the most fashionable week of the season. Here is a list of 5 of our favorite trends straight off the runway at New York Fashion Week.

1. Bibs and Chokers

J. Crew kept the jewelry fresh and colorful for spring. We loved the bright, floral accent perfect for the bloom of the springtime season. In a start contrast to J. Crew was Pamella Roland. She kept it simple and chic with a thick-banded choker in black. This monochrome effect is great for those who like to avoid the bright colors, but still want to make a statement.

2. Hoop Earrings

Hoop earrings are back! These could be considered statement earrings, but they deserve a category of their own. Rag and Bone went for the classic hoop look in gold. Meanwhile. Derek Lam chose the oversized and wooden-beaded hoops to match their necklace.

3. Asymmetrical Necklaces

These necklaces make a minimalist statement. Jill Stuart and Tory Burch both opted to trade in size and symmetry for a look that’s memorable and understated. We love the asymmetrical look of these two necklaces. The designs are a much-needed update on the classic statement necklace.

4. Earthy Stones

Recently, natural, earthy and rough stones have started to trend. Tory Burch and Michael Kors both combined recent trends with earthy stones for a beautiful effect. Tory Burch used a flat, rock-like stone for a spin on the breastplate necklace. Michael Kors updated the brooch with an earthy-colored, rounded stone.

5. Statement Earrings

The biggest trend of the week was, without question, the statement earrings. It seemed as if every designer had to have their own version of oversized or eye-catching earrings. We loved the modern metal chains worn on the catwalk for Alexander Wang and the simple single earring of the Tibi show.

New York Fashion Week Street Style: Best Accessory Trends

It’s beginning to feel like fall, which means it’s that time of year — New York Fashion Week! If you follow the latest trends, then you know the style isn’t only on the runway. We looked to the streets to find the trendiest and most wearable fashions for the season. Check out our favorite fashion week street style looks so far.

1. Golden Details

We love this retro, ’70s-inspired look. What’s best about this style is the dual purpose of the accessories. The gold tones make this a more authentic and vintage-looking ensemble. At the same time, the modern mismatched earrings bring the look to modern era.

2. Geometric Patterns

One of the more popular trends is actually a pattern. Geometric shapes and lines are popping up in every type of jewelry. However, what makes the current trend different than any other modern design is its effect. This trend uses geometric jewelry as an interesting quirk, without forcing the look into modern, minimalist geometry.

3. Ring Bling

Ring stacking is still on trend and still beautiful. For those of us that love to wear as much jewelry as possible, this trend is perfect. Stack away and stack however you’d like. This flexible look has only one rule: the more the better.

4. Pendants and Pearls

This is actually two trends — pearls and pendants. Pearls have gotten an update recently, and have been trending in modern designs and patterns. Add a piece to your collection, but exclude stung pearls for this style. The pendant look is inspired by the ’70s trend emergence. Add a long chain with a sweet pendant and you have the perfect accessory.

5. Bold Statements

The reigning accessory for statement-making remains the earrings. Find a bold and unexpected pair of earrings to add an updated statement to your favorite fashions. Anything goes as long as it’s oversized and turning heads.

Ways to Wear: The Hottest NYFW Jewelry Trend

We’ve watched this trend slowly build as of late. But after this New York Fashion Week you’ll be seeing it everywhere. Statement earrings were the go-to accessory for many of our runway favorites. Even though so many shows featured the look, we never got tired. Statement earrings are one of the most versatile trends of the year, so check out these five ways to wear it straight from the runway.

1. Carolina Herrera

At Carolina Herrera we saw a sweet and simple take on the statement earring. Instead of the bold and brash look we are used to seeing from this trend, Herrera’s look imitated a more natural-looking floral motif.

2. Tome

Tome’s spring RTW show gave us the opposite of the Carolina Herrera’s delicate flowers. This time nature was depicted in massive metal that reached all the way down to the shoulders.

3. Rodarte

Rodarte upped the ante with their oversized styles. This time we were shown updated chandelier-style earrings, bringing this style back on trend and bigger and better than ever.

4. Tibi

Tibi proved that bigger isn’t always better with this small, single earring. Less is more with this look which uses its unusual asymmetry to bring attention to this swizzle stick inspired accessory.

5. Alexander Wang

We love Alexander Wang’s combination of two trends — the chain link and statement earring. The smaller size of the earrings makes the chain trend more manageable. At the same time the chain links make this earrings trend effortlessly cool.

Watches of the Week: Instagram Round-up

This week there were hundreds of amazing photos posted on Instagram, but we could only choose our top four favorites. Check out these stylish snaps and functional fashions. For jewelry and watch photos from TrueFacet, follow us at @TrueFacet.

1. Rolex Submariner

<ahref=”https://instagram.com/mittyandco/”title=”@mittyandco”target=”_blank”>@mittyandco

The Rolex Submariner is a classic with its simple and clean design. The strong and bold lines make this design the perfect accessory for a contrasting look of shapes and patterns. We especially love the black and silver tones combined with black and white geometric patterns. Of course, you have to add the perfect bracelet to accentuate your timepiece.

2. Ulysse Nardin Blue Ocean
@hautetimeThis photo doesn’t have us feeling blue. The watch in question is the brand new Blue Ocean form Ulysse Nardin. Aptly named, this watch is a marine chronometer that is water resistant up to 200 meters. We think this timepiece is a wonderful example of beauty and utility.
3.IWC Portofino
@a.f.m_22The only thing we love more than coffee is a nice watch. The Portofino from IWC is a self-winding chronograph that defines elegance and understated luxury. Though it certainly looks nice on the wrist, this timepiece is also functional with a stopwatch function featuring hours, minutes and seconds.
4. Patek Philippe Calatrava and Rolex Submariner
@mbackhandThis photo contains two staples of any functional watch collection — a classic dress watch and a classic sports watch. The Patek Philippe Calatrava is a beautiful, simple and clean watch that adds the perfect silent statement to any office attire. Meanwhile, the Submariner is an iconic sports watch while maintaining its legendary utility. What’s better is that both of these watches hold their value better than most watch brands and models, making them great investment pieces.

Beginner Tips: Investing in Jewelry and Watches

If you want to start your first luxury watch or jewelry collection but are unsure where to begin, then look no further. The idea of investing in luxury goods doesn’t have to be daunting. Everyone has different desires and means of achieving them, but if you are starting your first collection, consider these tips and adjust according to your lifestyle.

1. Start Small

If you are just beginning your jewelry or watch collection, there is no need to invest in the priciest and most over-the-top items you can think of. Though the insanely expensive and insanely luxurious might be your end goal, you should initially aim to build a functional and practical collection. Then, when the time is right, you can invest in an indulgent desire. Figure out what you are comfortable with buying and start there.

2. Buy within your means

When investing in jewelry and watches, the payout doesn’t happen immediately. It takes time — years or even decades — for the piece to gain value. Keep in mind that you won’t make money for a while when you invest in a product. That’s why it’s important to always buy within your means. If you are just starting your collection and aren’t comfortable with the price of an item, then opt for something you are comfortable with. A standard Rolex Submariner is a less intimidating starting point than a Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. As you build your collection, you might even be able to resell a watch for more than you originally paid, then put that towards the watch of your dreams.

3. Add essential and wearable pieces

Jewelry and watches are different investments than most. They are real, tangible and beautiful. If you take the proper precautions and care for your item, then these are investments you can wear and enjoy during your daily life. There’s no reason your collection can’t be wearable and useful. When you wear your items regularly, you will also pay more attention to them– you will see any wear or tear and notice if something is damaged or corroding. Noticing something amiss may make you more proactive in caring for your items.

4. Choose classic brands and models that retain value

When building a collection, research should be your number one priority. Research the brands and models that retain value and have a proven record of doing so. Brands like Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Rolex and Patek Philippe hold their value over time and even increase in price dramatically. You also need to look at the models that retain value best like Cartier Love bracelets, VCA Alhambra jewelry, Rolex Submariners and Patek Philippe Calatravas.

5. Know what to expect

It’s important to have a clear understanding of what you can expect from each piece in your collection. Just because you personally love an item or spent a fortune on it, doesn’t mean that others will find it valuable in the future. A classic designer and simple/timeless design are always safe bets when the item is well-maintained. A golden necklace adorned with precious gemstones will retain value due to the materials alone. On the other hand, an avant garde piece is more of a gamble. You can’t predict the future market, but you can research each purchase thoroughly before purchasing.

Reasons to Buy Luxury Online

Today the luxury market is performing well compared to other markets and remarkably better than it was just a few years ago, but why so suddenly? Online marketplaces and ease of access have made purchasing luxury simply effortless, somehow making the experience even more luxurious.

The term luxury is sometimes associated with unnecessary or frivolous. Although there may be a connotation to the term for some, there are many benefits of buying luxury goods, especially online. We believe that luxury isn’t exorbitant — it’s necessary, and here’s why.

Quality

The markup isn’t superficial on many luxury goods. Though you may pay more money for a well-known luxury designer, you aren’t just paying for the label, you are also paying for the heritage. Many luxury brands were founded with the purpose of delivering high-quality goods and over the decades, these values still remain. Cartier did not become the “King of jewelers and jewelry to kings” by producing sup-par jewelry and accessories.

The high quality and fine craftsmanship also make luxury products and lasting investment. The items are meant to last for a long time, not deteriorate after a year. Many times, these products can become family heirlooms passed down from generation to generation.

Slow Fashion

Not only are luxury products meant to last, but they are beautifully designed and meant to remain in fashion. When you invest in a luxury product, you are also buying a product that will remain in fashion for decades to come. The Cartier Love bracelet remains a highly-coveted and stylish accessory unchanged in the last 45 years. If only you had bought one in 1970 for $250!

Fast fashion is trendy and often poorly made. These designs are meant to last a season until new styles begin trending. When you spend your money on poorly-made items every fashion season, you end up spending more than you would if you had invested in a well-made luxury item.

Investment

Though some view luxury fashion as an investment in style, it’s also a real monetary investment. You can invest now and perhaps get a return after some time. Think of that $250 Cartier Love bracelet in 1970 — the same bracelet is worth over $6,000 today. Vintage pieces in good condition may also be worth more.

It’s also a wearable, beautiful and useful investment. The last stylishness and high quality craftsmanship make luxury goods a great investment for your wardrobe. Unchanging fashion staples will remain in use and in style for decades, meaning there’s no need to make the same purchase multiple times.

Saves Time and Effort

Time is a true luxury and online shopping has made shopping a quick and simple task. You can order your favorites from the office, during your commute or even at home in your pajamas. There’s no need to take time out of your schedule to visit the store and deal with the long sales pitches and rigamarole often associated with visiting a luxury shop. If you know what you want, then a few clicks online can save you a lot of time.

You can also save money by purchasing online. You have the option to research your item and vendor thoroughly before purchasing. This way you can be sure you get the best price and condition possible. You don’t have to depend on the sales associate to give the honest details about your purchase — they are all a quick online search away.
