We then compare our findings with an authentication watch database. If any of our checkpoints are compromised, we will discontinue our efforts to authenticate and sell the watch.

After authentication and during inspection, we study the condition of the ornament. After comparing the condition of the piece with its current market value, we make a fair offer to the seller who then accepts the estimated sum.

Once we get the piece in our hands, our experts begin the refurbishing process. This includes a deep clean of the setting, link, or face of the item. We replace faulty dials, hands, or clasps and other parts while making other adjustments to the item as necessary. Our 4 Favorite Men’s Accessory Trends

On the runway this January, accessories for men were bigger than ever. Our favorite fashion designers, including Gucci, Valentino and Prada, did not hold back with men’s jewelry. If you are looking to step up your fashion game this year, then get inspired by these latest men’s accessory trends.

1. Chain Link Bracelets

At Milan Men’s Fashion Week we saw this trend from Bottega Veneta, Prada and more. This is a simple way to start with the men’s accessory trends that are becoming increasingly popular as of late. A chain link bracelet can be worn as a large link on a leather band or a straightforward chain. It’s also the prefect added touch to compliment your favorite sports watch.

2. Layered Necklaces

Last year, layered necklaces were one of the biggest trends in women’s jewelry, and this year a version of this has found its way to the runways for men’s fashion weeks in Milan and London. Bottega Veneta, Coach, Alexander McQueen and Topman Designs were among the many major fashion designers who chose to accessorize with layered necklaces. This is a simple look that can be achieved by layering two to three simple, silver pendant necklaces.

3. Lots of Rings

Ring in the new year with this trend spotted on the Valentino and Gucci runways. This is a look than can be interpreted to fit your personal style, whether it’s monochromatic or bright and energetic. Simply choose your favorite rings and wear multiples. On the runway, three fingers were chosen with one to two rings on each finger.

4. Colored Watch Dials

Finally, a watch trend did find its way to the runway. The Gucci and Armani fashion shows brought us colored dials and leather straps for a vibe that’s either casual and vibrant or a sporty cool. If you prefer the casual look of a leather band, then combine it with a vibrant colored dial to coordinate with your outfit as seen on the Gucci runway. If you like to dress more formally, then you can combine a blue dial with a stainless steel case and bracelet.

The Fastest-Selling Jewelry and Watches of 2015

It’s a new year and you may be looking to update your jewelry or watch collection. There’s no better way to make room than cleaning out the clutter and earning the most for your items in the process. We took a look back at 2015 to determine the fastest-selling jewelry and watches of the year to help you decide what items to list. Check out our listing page for more information.

1. Cartier Love Collection

It comes as no surprise that items from the Cartier Love collection were the fastest-selling items of 2015. As we enter 2016, this is still true and we don’t see it slowing down any time soon. Not only is the collection the fastest-selling, but it’s the best-selling overall. We’ve seen the most from white and yellow gold love bracelets and white gold Love rings. Though those particular shades are the best-selling of Love bracelets and rings, all gold tones of the Love collection sell better than most other non-Love items.

2. David Yurman Cable Bracelets

The cable motif is the signature of David Yurman and we can’t seem to hold onto cable bracelets. These gorgeous bracelets are the perfect accessory for a simple touch or stunning stack. We see the 5mm cable bracelets with colored stones sell the fastest, followed by the 10mm Renaissance cable bracelets. Though the cable bracelets sell the fastest, other items featuring the cable motif sell quickly as well. You’ll have the best luck with Albion pendant necklaces and the Albion and Chatelaine rings.

3. Van Cleef & Arpels Alhambra Collection

This dainty clover necklace has a lot of selling power. This Alhambra jewelry from the French jeweler is a highly-coveted and classic collection. No matter what form the clover takes, these items always go quickly. We see the 10-motif onyx Alhambra necklace sell the quickest. However, single pendant Alhambra necklaces sell the most. The mother of pearl bracelets are also reliable sales.

4. Rolex Submariner

Rolex, just behind Cartier, is one of the best-selling and fastest-selling brands at TrueFacet. Rolex watches are the go-to for many avid watch collectors and even those whom have just started their watch collection. Though most models sell very well across the board, the Submariner with a black dial and bezel is the fastest-selling and most popular of all models. Other popular models include the Day-Date, Datejust, Daytona and Yachtmaster.

5. Breitling Superocean

In the past few months we’ve seen a surge in Breitling sales. It seems as though the hottest watch is the Breitling Superocean because we can’t hold onto one for long. Of all Breitlings, this watch, more reasonably priced than a Rolex, is perhaps a new favorite among watch admirers and aficionados. Aside from the Superocean, the Chronomat and Navitimer are also consistent sales if you are looking to list.

An Enduring Legacy

The founder of Rolex, Hans Wilsdorf, was a man with grit. Brimming with ideas and having a taste for style, Wilsdorf developed his first classic timepiece at the young age of 24. With vision and execution, Wilsdorf created one of the first tasteful and resolute wristwatches of the 20th century. Not only this, but Rolex’s founder designed the first accurate chronometric wristwatch to earn the Swiss Certificate of Chronometric Precision. After earning this degree of recognition, Wilsdorf made it his life’s work to make a wristwatch that was self-winding, water tight, and as functional as it was beautiful.

In the years that have since followed Wilsdorf’s first timepiece, Rolex watches have evolved to fit with the lifestyles of their owners. The Rolex watch is the ultimate functional tool watch, withstanding the extreme rigors of your partner’s professional and personal life. Rolex watches aren’t just for aesthetics—they’re functional.

Timeless Style, Functional Use

Founded in 1905, the Rolex watch brand steered design and fashion in the 20th century. Handcrafted and built to perfection, the Rolex watch is identified by three key features: precision, durability, and craftsmanship. Ever trend setting, Rolex watches are the epitome of aesthetic beauty. President Eisenhower remarked on his own Rolex timepiece, “This attractive Rolex watch has become one of my proud possessions. I have been highly pleased by its accuracy and reliability as well as its beautiful appearance.” When you look at the Rolex DateJust with its white gold silver and oyster band, it’s no wonder Eisnerhower took such pride in his timepiece.

Powerful men of the modern age wore Rolex watches as more than statement pieces, they wore Rolexes specifically for their multi-faceted functions. Whether they were aviators, deep-sea divers, speed racers, or military leaders, stalwart men like Paul Newman and Dwight D. Eisenhower wore the classic timepieces at work and while at play.

When a man wears a Rolex watch, he is demonstrating to the world the importance of his life’s work. Actress Johanne Woodward recognized this when she bought her husband Paul Newman his first Rolex watch in 1972. Understanding that her husband needed a reliable watch to mark his racing times when he was embarking upon his racing career, Johanne went with the Rolex company instead of another watch maker because she knew a Rolex watch would serve the function her husband needed while also working as an elegant statement piece. Today’s Rolex Daytona would no doubt be what Newman himself would have worn had he continued racing.

Which Cartier Jewelry & Watches to Sell

If you’re thinking about selling your Cartier jewelry or watches, then read this first. We’ve gathered the data and determined the best-selling Cartier items so you don’t miss out on the Cartier craze. See what Cartier items sells the most often and the quickest.

The Love collection is the most popular, mostly Love bracelets and rings. Though they are the best Cartier items to list, you will have a better shot with certain sizes and colors. The most popular color and size combination was the yellow gold size 17 Love bracelet, followed closely by the size 16 yellow gold bracelet.

White gold size 16 and 17 white gold bracelets are the next highest-selling Cartier items. Though less popular than its yellow gold counterpart, white gold Love bracelets tend to retain value slightly better than other shades of gold.

Though rose gold love bracelets are less popular in the common sizes, size 16 and 17 are still more popular than the larger sizes (19-21) in yellow and white gold. Yellow gold was the most common in sizes 19 and up.

Despite being the least common gold choice, rose gold Love bracelets were the most common choice for bracelets studded with precious stones. The rose gold with full diamonds was the most popular selection for the bejeweled bracelet, especially size 16. Yellow gold was the least common choice for diamond Love bracelets. Half diamond was most popular with white gold Love bracelets.

Love rings were the second most popular category for Cartier jewelry. White gold was by far the preferred tone, more than rose gold and yellow gold combined. Second most common was yellow gold followed by rose gold. A plain band without stones in the standard width was the most common style. Bands featuring precious stones was second followed by the mini version of the Love ring.

Other popular styles include the Trinity ring and Cartier watches. The most popular Cartier watch was the ladies Tank followed by the Ballon Bleu. Behind these are the Roadster and Santos in mens.

When selling your Cartier jewelry, you will have the best luck in the staples of Cartier like the Love bracelets and rings and the iconic watch models. However the rare pieces are listed less frequently and still deserve mentions. Items from the Panthere collection are always favorites, but at a higher price point and lower availability, these items do not sell as frequently.

How to Spot a Fake, Counterfeit, or Replica Jaeger-LeCoultre Watch

Founded in 1833, Jaeger-LeCoultre has firmly established its reputation for producing high-quality watches. Their impressive craftsmanship makes Jaeger-LeCoultre watches difficult for counterfeiters to convincingly replicate. However, if you’re questioning the authenticity of a Jaeger-LeCoultre watch or online listing, here are the biggest red flags to watch out for that will tip you off to a fake.

1. Low-Quality Metals

Jaeger-LeCoultre produces some of the finest luxury watches available and has rigorous standards for its production. To that end, Jaeger-LeCoultre uses only high-quality materials like 18K gold or stainless steel. So if you see any discoloration or scratches that reveal a different metal beneath the plating, this is an immediate red flag the Jaeger-LeCoultre watch in question may be fake.

2. Glue Residue
Jaeger-LeCoultre does not use any glue to assemble their fine watches. However, counterfeiters rely on inexpensive glue to quickly cobble together their imposter Jaeger-LeCoultre watches. So inspect the watch’s edges for any adhesive residue as that is a sure-fire sign of a forgery.

3. Quartz Movement
If you are able to safely open the back of the Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, look at its movement. If the movement is quartz, it’s an immediate indication that it’s not a real Jaeger-LeCoultre watch. Authentic Jaeger-LeCoultre watches have a mechanical movement.

4. Jumping Seconds Hand
Finally, the seconds hand on the Jaeger-LeCoultre watch should move in a sweeping motion. If the seconds hand “jumps” or has a loud ticking sound, then the watch is most likely fake.

5. Messy Brand Markings

Read the watch’s engravings. The metal content and Jaeger-LeCoultre’s name should be legibly and cleanly stamped. If the watch’s stamps look sloppy (i.e., the letters run together or the lines are crooked), it’s a strong indicator the piece is not real.

And, this may seem like an obvious sign, but double-check the Jaeger-LeCoultre spelling. It’s surprising how overlooked this crucial red flag is by forgers and unsuspecting shoppers alike.

The face of every Jaeger-LeCoultre watch is stamped with “Swiss Made.” But if you have a watch that reads, “Japanese Movt,” it’s undoubtedly a fake.

6.  A Sketchy Online Seller

Protect yourself from online scam artists selling counterfeit Jaeger-LeCoultre watches by thoroughly researching any potential seller before shopping with them. Read their online reviews. Cross-reference the website on watch forums which frequently post scam warnings or can verify the seller’s credibility.

Comb through the seller’s website and look for a clear return policy and warranty page. Their site should also include their address, contact information and an About Us page. If the website looks incomplete (i.e., pages that say, “Coming Soon” or error pages), it’s best to move on and find a different seller.

The only way to know with absolute certainty if your watch is a fake is to bring it to a trusted jeweler who specializes in watches and ask them to authenticate your Jaeger-LeCoultre watch. For a nominal fee, they will appraise and valuate your watch so you can rest assured the Jaeger-LeCoultre watch is genuine.

If you have more questions about how to spot a fake Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, feel free to e-mail us at support@truefacet.com and a concierge associate can walk you through our rigorous authentication process.
