5 Runway Looks for the Summer
Keep cool this summer with high fashion jewelry style straight from the runway. We took a look at the top fashion designers’ looks from their Spring/Summer 2016 ready to wear collections. Keep reading to see how Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, Oscar de la Renta and more accessorize their summertime looks.
1. Floral Inspired
It’s no surprise that floral patterns are everywhere in the spring and summer. When we saw all the flowery designs and accessories during the fall SS16 runway shows, we knew what was on the table for the summer season. The creative accessories on the catwalk were blooming in a more realistic way than we have been used to. The jewelry at Carolina Herrera, Anna Sui and Dolce & Gabbana mimicked real life fruits and florals for a pretty and colorful summertime look.
2. Oversized Drop Earrings
We’ve said it before, but the high fashion world can’t get enough of the statement earrings. Topshop Unique, Gucci and Oscar de la Renta were among the many designers that chose to exaggerate the classic drop earring. These accessories were bold and bright in summertime shades. To get this look, find a suitable drop style in shining, colored crystal or gemstones.
3. Updated Hoops
This is a look from the future. For those who prefer the monochromatic, modern look then look no further. Versace, Givenchy and Isabel Marant perfected the look with oversized variations of hoops or discs. In black and angular curves, or large and shiny disks, these earrings pair best with contemporary and chic styles.
4. Not So Classic Cuffs
Tired of boring bangles? If so, then this summer season is for you. We saw playful and unique takes on the beloved accessory from designers like Chloe, Valentino, Celine and more. We saw flirty tassels on open ended cuffs from Chloe, sculptural and bone-like bracelets from Valentino and geometric stones from Celine.
5. Modern Brooches
Vintage brooches made a comeback last fall and winter season, but this summer it’s all about the modern take on the ancient accessory. Rochas, Lanvin, Gucci brought the antique piece to this century with crystal embellishments and contemporary designs. With modern styling, like a symmetrical collar placement, brooches are more stylish than ever.
