Mikimoto

The Mikimoto Pearl Store was opened in Tokyo in 1899, laying the groundwork for the modern jewelry industry in Japan. Mikimoto exhibited his jewelry in Chicago in 1899 and later showed his pearls at numerous fairs. In 1913, the first overseas Mikimoto Pearl Store opened in London, followed by New York and Paris.
