In 1980, Carlo Crocco, a scion of the Italian Binda Group dynasty, struck out on his own to build his own watch company, Hublot. Hublot quickly became known for being unconventional with its unique case design and flexible and waterproof rubber straps. Today, the company operates under France’s LVMH conglomerate.
